Establishing the Main Herringbone Line
We began by setting out the herringbone alignment in the principal living area. Once we confirmed the starting line, we extended the wood-effect pieces across the open floor and checked the direction regularly.
At the perimeter, we measured and cut individual sections to meet the walls cleanly. This kept the pattern balanced across the main room without leaving uneven edges.
Continuing Through Different Spaces
We carried the same pattern through openings and into narrower areas. We adjusted individual pieces around corners, wall projections and the staircase while maintaining the established direction.
The warmer flooring contrasted with the dark staircase while maintaining a consistent appearance across rooms of different proportions.
Finishing the Walls and Ceilings
We prepared and decorated the walls in a light neutral tone. The decorating formed part of our wider property maintenance work, bringing the flooring, walls and ceiling details together within one coordinated project. We completed neat edges around sockets, electrical points and openings prepared for later fittings.
In the living room, we finished the horizontal and vertical surfaces of the recessed ceiling border so its lines remained clearly defined. In the upper rooms, we continued the light finish across the sloping ceilings and around the roof-window reveals.
