We completed an interior painting project across the hallway, kitchen entrance and adjoining rooms of a Harrow home. Our work covered the walls, ceilings, panelled doors, frames and surrounding woodwork.

Because the areas were visible through several connected doorways, we treated them as one complete refresh.

Before: Worn Surfaces and Detailed Edges

The project included broad walls as well as narrow sections around doors, a radiator, switches and fitted units. We also needed to work around light fittings, a smoke alarm, kitchen tiles and cupboards that remained in place.

We assessed the wall surfaces, ceilings and woodwork and identified the areas that required preparation. The recessed panels and moulded edges of the doors needed particular attention.

Preparation: Protecting the Existing Interior

We cleared the working areas where possible and protected the nearby floors, fixtures and fixed surfaces. This preparation was an essential part of our interior painting and decorating work especially around fixed surfaces and detailed edges. We prepared visible imperfections and established clean boundaries where the paint met tiles, cupboards and door trims.

We also worked carefully around the ceiling fittings without covering or interfering with them.

From Ceiling to Woodwork: The Painting Sequence

We completed the ceilings first and maintained controlled lines around corners and changes in height. We then applied the light neutral wall finish through the connected areas, including the smaller sections beside doors and around the radiator.

We finished the panelled doors by following the shape of their recessed details. The frames and trims received clean edges around the handles, hinges and adjoining walls.

Maintaining One Finish Between Connected Areas

The hallway and adjoining rooms could be seen together through several doorways, so small differences in colour, edge quality or coverage would have remained noticeable. We planned the work as one continuous decorating project and maintained the same light finish throughout the connected areas. Particular attention was given to corners, door openings and the points where walls met tiles, cupboards and woodwork.

These transitions helped determine how consistent the final result would appear. Working systematically through the connected spaces also allowed the doors, frames, ceilings and walls to complement one another rather than looking like unrelated painted surfaces.

TG HANDIMEN did an amazing job fixing the boiler very promt(and re-boxing) a leaky sewage pipe that was running through our flat. He’s even leant us a wallpaper steamer free of charge after seeing the state of the wallpaper we need to remove.Tibi is punctual, efficient, and so friendly. We’ll definitely be calling him again for any future bits and bobs. Hi, recommendations.

Tibi was very helpful and done a wonderful job for my commercial bathrooms and water heater. I will have him come and fit my bathroom suit and new boiler in the next few months

After: A Unified Interior

The light wall and ceiling finish created a brighter, more consistent appearance across the connected spaces. The renewed doors and frames gave each opening a crisp outline, while clean transitions beside tiles and fitted units improved the detailed areas. Walls, ceilings, doors and woodwork can be refreshed together to achieve a unified result. Plan a coordinated refresh with TG Handyman.
